Quentar is a little village in the foothills of Sierra Nevada some 13 km from Granada city. There are regular buses to Granada from 7 am to 11 pm every day (for bus timetable look HERE) . This village still maintains its typical Andalusian rural atmosphere . The whole environment, little squares and fountains, our elders , animals like donkeys , oxen and goats invite you for a peaceful rest. A XVI century church and former mosque can be found in the center of Quentar.

The village is surrounded by olive, almond and cherry trees. A reservoir can be found at 4 km from here, where you can go to swim.

Also the little creek Aguas Blancas which is running along the valley offers you some nice , refreshing places.
You can take easy walks through the countryside next to Quentar or even take a longer hike to nearby neighbour villages Tocón or Güejar Sierra. You can find 10 marked hiking trails right around Quéntar at this link : Trails around Quentar
In winter the surrounding mountains are covered with snow and even some days the village disappears under a white, silent cover of snow.
You can find here several little bars, a restaurant, two supermarkets, pharmacy and a bank office with ATM.
And once a year, the Second weekend in september, there is the festival of “Moros y Cristianos”(the Moors and Christians), where the conquest of Spain by the Catholic kings is remembered and celebrated.
